Bridging the gaps for graduate students
Dr. Shan Jiang, affiliate professor in the Office of Components Science and Engineering (MSE) is working to fill in the gaps that graduate learners have after they depart university and enter academic or field professions.
Commenced in 2019, Graduates for Advancing Skilled Expertise (GAPS) is an opportunity for graduate pupils to close the gap involving academic exploration techniques and what their future employer expects. It was born from Jiang’s drive to greater equip pupils with real-earth gentle expertise.
“It will advantage their profession in the long run,” Jiang stated. “Most of our pupils are perfectly-skilled with technological capabilities. On the other hand, they are missing some of the softer techniques that is essential to realize success immediately in their job.”
