Engineering dean succeeds Purdue President Daniels on Jan. 1 | State
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Engineering Dean Mung Chiang will thrive Mitch Daniels as Purdue University’s president on Jan. 1, the school’s Board of Trustees declared Friday.
Chiang, who’s also Purdue’s executive vice president for strategic initiatives, acquired praise for developing the College or university of Engineering at each the undergraduate and graduate degrees and location new college records for the two government and sector-sponsored exploration funding.
Chiang also has played a central part in setting up new associations with federal organizations in nationwide security and economic progress and recruiting companies to commit and build positions in Purdue’s Discovery Park District.
Chiang attained a bachelor’s diploma in electrical engineering and mathematics and master’s and doctorate levels in electrical engineering from Stanford College. He came to Purdue from Princeton University, in which he was the first chairman of Princeton’s Entrepreneurial Council. He retains 25 patents.
Board of Trustees Chairman Michael Berghoff said Chiang “has shown not only academic excellence but also administrative acumen, effective connection-making with tutorial, governmental, and business associates, and the skills of public communications.”

Daniels has served as Purdue’s president because January 2013, soon after finishing two phrases as Indiana’s governor. He notably has frozen Purdue’s tuition for 11 many years by means of 2022-23 and established a few Purdue Polytechnic Significant Schools in Indianapolis and South Bend.
